Review: Eric had for us a DVD video called, "Rhodochrosite: Red Treasure of the Rockies".
About two dozen of us 'wowwed' over the spectacularly faceted, bright red crystals
collected from this famed Colorado mine. We watched the mine's progression from
about 1991-2004, it's closing, and marvelled over the enormous pockets sporting gemmy and
non-gemmy specimens.
The mining process was a joy to witness. The diamond chain saw and
hydraulic splitter were favorites among viewers. The geldyne explosions were a
'blast' (forgive the pun). A virtual fieldtrip during the winter months can be a
much sought after tonic.
For those lucky collectors who get to add a crystal or two to their
cabinet, we applaud you--and would like to see it, if you are willing to share. For
the owners of the sublime "Alma Queen" and "Alma King" crystals,
congratulations, and 'May we hold it, just for a second?" Thanks, Eric. [Ken
