                                              National Limestone Quarry

                                          Mount Pleasant Mills
                                       Snyder County, PA

 

December 8, 2007, Saturday, National Limestone, Mount Pleasant Mills & Middleburg Quarries, Snyder County, PA. These quarries mines the limestones of the Upper Silurian age Tonoloway Formation. Minerals that can be commonly found at this quarry include: calcite, and strontianite. Celestite, fluorite, and wavellite also can be found at Mount Pleasant Mills but are not common. Collection is by hammer and chisel almost exclusively. Please sign up by Thursday, December 6th if you would like to attend! Note: This is about a 3-hour drive from Wilmington.  CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER
