Online Searchable Database in the Works

We are in the working stages of creating an online searchable database of all the printed offerings from the DMS Library.

Carl has kept a handwritten inventory over time.   He will soon have a typewritten list to circulate.

Phase 1: Our first goal is to post at least some prime listings to this webpage, for immediate listing.  (Timeframe: 1-2 days after receiving list)  COMPLETED!

Phase 2: Our next goal is to post a full listing on the website, so that we may request from Carl to borrow.   COMPLETED!

Carl is always ready to share materials upon our asking.  When completed, Carl will
also have a typed list for us to browse from.

Phase 3: Our ultimate goal is to have our online database operational within 2007.
I'm working on a prototype database to function with Carl's library cataloging setup.
IN PROGRESS

EXTRALAPIS

Lapis, published in Germany, is a magazine similar to the Mineralogical Record.  The same people also publish symposium - type issues called Extralapis in English four times a year on specific topics.  As in the parent magazine and the Mineralogical Record, the photography is top-notch.  So far they published six issues: Madagascar, Emerald, Tourmaline, Calcite, Gold and Pakistan.  Our club has an examination copy of the Pakistan issue -- let me know if you would like to borrow it.

Prices are: one year subscription ( 4 issues, which can start with Gold, Pakistan or Beryl, the next issue)  $75.  Back issues including Beryl.  $28.50.

I have order forms for Extralapis.  Let me know if you would like one.  I can also help in obtaining back issues of Lapis.  I have found that very helpful for collecting in Europe.  [Carl Muendel]
