Welcome!
The DMS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion and education of
mineralogy, paleontology and the lapidary arts. We meet on the second Monday of each
month (except for July and August) at the historic Greenbank Grist Mill, 500 Greenbank
Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 near the intersection of Rt. 41 and Rt. 2. We have
speakers/programs that promote the goals of the society at each meeting.
Refreshments are shared by fellow club members.
The DMS conducts several field trips a month to fossil and mineral
localities in the tri-state area (PA, NJ and MD) and further afield. DMS is also a
member of E.F.T.A., the Eastern Field Trip Alliance, and many of our members belong to
other clubs in the tri-state area creating close ties and providing opportunities for
several cosponsored field trips a year.
The DMS is proud to announce that our junior division is in the process of
becoming affiliated with the Future Rockhounds of America through the American Federation
of Mineralogical Societies (AFMS).
The DMS also sponsors an annual mineral and gem show on the first weekend
in March. Membership benefits include: access to field trips, a subscription to our
monthly newsletter, the Geogram, and to become part of a local community of enthusiasts
who enjoying sharing their interests.
